It's always good to know the do's and don't's of any city you plan to visit, and Las Vegas is no exception. Here are a few facts about alcohol consumption, curfews, gambling, etc.
The city of Las Vegas and the entire Clark County have a curfew ordinance. Anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited from being on the Strip or sidewalks adjacent thereto and all parking lots, driveways and walkways after 9 pm on weekends and holidays unless accompanied by a parent.
Downtown Las Vegas, the curfew for those under 18 years old is 10 pm on school nights and midnight on weekends.

The minimum age for gambling in Nevada is 21 or older and the law is strictly enforced. Casinos can be fined heavily by the state or have their license revoked for allowing anyone under 21 to gamble or loiter in gaming areas.
Adults cannot play slot machines with kids looking over their shoulder, nor can they park infants in strollers besides slot machines or gaming tables.
Security guards will inform violators of the state law one time and escort them from the premises for repeatedly ignoring warnings.

Nevada law regulates indoor smoking areas. The Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act (NCIAA) prohibits smoking in many indoor public spaces. As a result, smoking is not permitted in - restaurants, hotel lobbies & elevators, guest room hallways, arcades, malls & retail stores, meeting and convention areas including the Las Vegas Convention Center concourse areas, and the McCarran International Airport.
Smoking is however permitted in the gaming areas of the casino floor, designated smoking guest rooms, and certain stand-alone bars that don't serve food & nightclubs.
Tips or gratuities in Las Vegas are optional and NOT required. There is no law that requires tipping in Las Vegas, but it is generally considered a good way to show your appreciation for attentive and courteous service. Many workers in the Vegas service industry earn most of their wages from tips.

Nevada is one of just two states that allow some form of legal prostitution, the other being Rhode Island.
